Sourdough Pizza

Sourdough Pizza

Last year, I started a gluten free sourdough starter and I’ve had a lot of success with it.

Scones are probably our absolute favorite use of the sourdough starter, but waffles (recipe coming soon), biscuits and pie crust are really great as well. You can find those recipes here.

But there are days when I don’t want or need to make scones or biscuits or waffles, but we do need a quick dinner. Enter this sourdough pizza crust recipe.

All you do is heat an oven proof skillet, pour in some of your fed starter, cook it and top it. We’ve had traditional pizzas and breakfast pizzas and my whole family loves them all.

Because this is not a long fermented product, there is very little to no discernible sour taste. It just tastes like a crispy cracker-like pizza crust.

Because this recipe is very hard to write up, I made you a video showing the process. All you’ll need in the way of ingredients is your fed starter, a little oil (avocado or olive work well) and the toppings of your choice. That’s it! It’s a great way to use up your discard when you’re just getting your sourdough starter going. Or if you’re like me and you don’t use your starter all that often, but do need to take it out of the fridge and feed it every week or two so it doesn’t die, this is a great use. And when was the last time somebody complained because pizza was on the dinner menu?
